Chinese okra is similar to regular okra in color and shape. It is long with strong ridged green skin and narrow ends. Chinese okra has a spongy, fibrous creamy white flesh. The more mature it is, the more bitter it becomes, making it less suitable for culinary use and more fitting for skin care purposes. The best time to harvest is when it has reached 6 to 10 inches in length; when it is still young. Its flesh is tender and similar to zucchini in flavor. It is rich in vitamin C.
